  • Space available in each group

Furthermore, we have included the following opportunities for swimmers to continue on their swimming pathway by recognising the following opportunities:

A great addition to each discipline but also an extra offering at the club that broadens the future opportunities of swimmers. Water polo sessions take place on a Saturday morning weekly at 7.30-8.30am. Water Polo players additionally have access to a given session on the weekly swim timetable to develop their swimming that will ultimately improve their Water Polo capabilities. All Water Polo members can attend a swim session on Sunday at 4.15-5.15pm at Hereford.

Swimmers placed in a swim squad can add the Saturday Water Polo session to their programme for a small monthly supplement.

University – Swimmers venturing into University have the option to continue being registered with City of Hereford Swimming Club and are able to train when they return in the holidays.

Senior & Youth Performance Pathway

Senior and Youth swimmers have the opportunity to apply for our Performance Pathway, which provides additional training for swimmers looking to maximise their potential.

Performance Pathway places are limited. If applications exceed the number of available places, swimmers will be selected using the criteria outlined below.

Selection is based on much more than qualifying times. While achieving County qualifying standards will strengthen an application, swimmers who consistently demonstrate an excellent attitude, commitment and work ethic will be equally valued.

Performance sessions take place during prime training times and the monthly fee reflects the increased access to these sessions.

Performance Pathway Selection Criteria

When selecting swimmers, we will consider whether they consistently:

  1. Arrive on time and are ready to enter the water promptly.
  2. Apply themselves fully during training sessions.
  3. Bring the correct equipment to every session.
  4. Complete pre-pool and post-pool routines consistently.
  5. Regularly compete at Open Meets across a variety of events.
  6. Support the club by competing in team galas and club events when selected.

As a result, we would expect swimmers to be:

  • Achieving County qualifying times; or
  • Demonstrating the commitment and progress required to achieve County qualifying times in the near future.

Maintaining a Performance Pathway Place

Places will be reviewed monthly. For swimmers to retain a place on the Performance Pathway they are expected to:

  1. Compete regularly to maintain times across a range of events.
  2. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards racing and continue to develop race plans and routines.
  3. Arrive promptly for all training sessions and complete pre-pool preparation.
  4. Complete post-pool recovery exercises where appropriate.
  5. Lead by example at competitions through effective warm-up and recovery routines.
  6. Attend at least 75% of Performance Pathway sessions.
  7. Bring the correct equipment to every session.
  8. Apply themselves to the best of their ability at every training session.
